DB Bistro Moderne

Weeks ago, I had the privilege to attend the pre-opening dinner at DB Bistro Moderne by Chef Daniel Boulud located at the Marina Bay Sands. And, I must say that we had such an impeccable dining experience. For appetizer, I reveled in the ambrosial foie gras prepared in two different methods.

Complimentary from the Chef: Deep fried risotto balls. Apart from sounded interesting, they tasted delectable too!

Pardon me for the lousy pictures, because I took them using my hopeless camera. Seriously, the pictures don't do justice to the food. I regretted not bringing my DSLR.

I had lamb cous cous for my main:

Kevin had the signature DB burger:

MIL ordered steak (poor picture angle, I know, but I was famished):

PIL ordered the healthy organic chicken:

Desserts were sorbet of different flavours and warm chocolate cake. No pictures for desserts because I was busy attending to Ziv. That's him again, making funny faces in front of the camera. He likes to do that these days.

Back to DB, the interior was stylishly designed, the setting of the restaurant is very different from the local restaurants, and the interior makes me feel like I am in the Big Apple, posh and upclass. I especially love the red colour booth seats, those are perfect for gathering so that friends can sit closely together.

The staffs were friendly and had good memories. One of the staffs even played with Ziv, after all, I felt that fine dining should not be dead serious or formal. Staff that are amicable and chatty makes the entire dining atmosphere even more delightful. The hosts were well-dressed and it was not often that we get to have hosts and hostesses (full time hostess, not half waitress, half hostess) in fine dining restaurants (think, Jann, LightHouse, il Lido).

Undeniably, there is a plethora of fine dining restaurants in Singapore; however, it is not common that we can dine in the restaurant of a famous chef from France and whose Manhattan restaurant is considered one of the ten best in the world!! Essentially, Chef Daniel’s restaurant, DANIEL, located at the New York City is a three Michelin star Relais & Chateaux member!

The dinner was on the house (except wine), and I am certain that I will be back again, can't wait.

DB Bistro Moderne officially opened last Saturday. Do give it a try! Highly recommended.

BMW World VIP Night

Was invited to the BMW World VIP Night located at the Marina Bay Sands. With 50,000 sq ft of displays, interactive booths, lifestyle merchandise and fun-filled activities for all ages. It was a night of free flow of white and red wine, oysters, chocolate fondue and lots of sinful desserts! Yummy!

The event showcase the concept and vintage cars. There are guided tours that narrate the stories behind the shiny red cars.

The one and only BMW GINA Light Visionary. A car completely clad in a flexible fabric skin, that changes its shape at the press of a button!

BMW M3 GTS, a powerful car!

BMW 8 Series

BMW Z1, vintage.

BMW Z8

BMW vintage , driven by Elvis Presley.

On that day was also the Asia Premier of BMW X3. Kev's next target.

Thanks BMW for the wonderful night!

The Retreat

On the same day, after brunch, Kevin and I attended a retreat.
We were supposed to have the retreat at Jewel Box, but there was a change of plan. Instead, we had Japanese sit down a-la carte buffet at Irodori Japanese Restaurant located at River View Hotel.

I still prefer Hanabi. Nevertheless, it was a great gathering to end the weekend. My collar bones were sticking out as if I lost weight. But in fact, I gained. Duh!

BMW X1 Launch Party

I was privileged to get invited to the BMW X1 Launch Party.

Date: 18 June 2010
Venue: Sentosa Wave House
Time: 7pm

We were transported from the beach car park to the Wave House by a buggy with only the two of us and the driver.

"Chichi", "swanky", "exclusive", "lush" somewhat sums up the event. Ladies graced the event in natty numbers and, of course, there were some who were like me, adhered to the dress code, i.e. Beach chic. Apart from having lots of eye-candy in this event, the food was notably impressive. Before attending the event, I was specifically told by C to look out for Peking duck pizza, however, it was nowhere to be found. I was a tad disappointed. However, the tiramisu and all other desserts were great. I had 3 cups of tiramisu and 3 macaroons and uncountable mango pudding! Burrpppp....

The event served alcoholic drinks from 7 to 11pm and it is quite a shame that I am allergic to alcohol!

All pictures were taken by my iPhone. We decided to leave our DSLR in the car during the last minute. The camera could potentially be a hindrance in events like that due to its size.

What I like about Wave House? You get to see guys with hot bods performing wake boarding right in front of you, without having to strain your eyes or use binoculars. Look at the man-made wave in the picture below.

The Wave House was actually part of a beach, just that it was separated, or rather fenced up.

Not forgetting to take a few shots of the car. The motive of this event was to celebrate the launch of the new BMW SUV. When the car was driven out by a male model, everyone crowded around the car to snap pictures.

There were three cars on the showcase. One of them was white, and we were glad that we made a right choice in picking white than other colours.

Yeah, we are finally getting our car early next week. By then, we will be the proud first 10 or 20 car owners who will be cruising the Singapore road with the brand new X1.
